Improving predictions of climate
The Walker Institute is improving predictions of climate on a range of timescales. We focus particularly on improving prediction of climate at the regional scale and on weather and climate extremes. Developing better climate models is fundamental to our research in this area.
Much of our research on understanding the climate system is also aimed ultimately at improving our ability to predict what climate is going to do in the future on timescales from a season ahead to many decades into the future.
Scientists working in this area fall under the Climate Programme of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS-Climate) and the Department of Meteorology. We collaborate extensively with the Met Office.
