The Walker Institute is made up of a core team of four: the Director, the research and business co-ordinator, the communications manager and the administrator.
A broad range of climate related researchers from across the University are now associates of the Walker Institute.

|
Prof Nigel Arnell - Director
Nigel is the Director of the Walker Institute and a Professor of Climate within the Department of Meteorology. He is an expert on climate change and its impacts, has been a lead author in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assessment process and contributed to the recent Stern Review of the Economics of Climate Change. His own research focuses on the impacts of climate change on river flows, water resources and their management.

Dr Maria Noguer
Research and Business Development
Maria's role in the Institute is to develop and manage business links and encourage integrated research activities. Maria has many years of experience in climate research and its application to policy.
After working on regional climate modelling for the Met Office Hadley Centre, she worked as
an editor on IPCC Assessment Reports. She spent some time working in the Department for
Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) advising policymakers on the science of climate change.

Ms Kathy Maskell
Communications
Kathy is responsible for all aspects of Walker Institute communications and publicity. She began her career as a climate researcher in the Met Office Hadley Centre before going on to edit several IPCC Assessment Reports. Kathy also spent several years as a consultant for the Met Office advising business on the possible impacts of climate change.

Mrs Julie Genney
Administrator
Julie runs the Walker Institute office, dealing with day to day administration and finance.
Her previous roles have ranged from administration in
the corporate social responsibility
area to training and catering.
She brings her organisational
skills to support Walker Institute
activities, such as the annual
lecture, associate briefings and
the work of the core team.
